Shield Programme Team

My name is Chanelle Crossley and I am the Senior Support Worker within the SHIELD Programme. I have the privilege of supporting young adults as they move into the next stage of their lives, helping them build independence, confidence, and essential life skills. I also help manage our small team of staff, working closely to create a positive and encouraging environment every day. I have been part of the programme since 2022, and I truly love the role just as much today as I did when I first began. Watching our members grow in confidence, achieve things they once thought they couldn’t, and find their place within the community is incredibly special. Being part of their journey is something I feel genuinely proud and passionate about every single day.

My name is Matthew Freer, and I have worked within education for over ten years. As a Support Worker within the SHIELD Programme, I primarily lead on woodwork sessions. I support, teach, and guide members in developing their practical woodworking skills, ensuring they understand how to use tools safely and effectively. A key part of my role is promoting health and safety in the workshop, including the correct use of tools, maintaining a safe working environment, and ensuring appropriate PPE is worn at all times.

Hello, I’m Jamie Crossley. I joined the SHIELD Programme in January 2026 as a Support Worker, where I primarily focus on developing members’ life skills and supporting their independence. I bring a broad range of experience from the military, policing, construction, retail, and firefighting, offering practical knowledge and real world insight to help members prepare for employment beyond SHIELD. I also hold a Level 4 Diploma in Leadership and Management, strengthening my ability to guide and mentor others.

Hi, I am Jenny Clarke, and I am one of the newest members of the SHIELD team, I work as a Support Worker, where I help members develop confidence, independence, and essential life skills focusing primarily on crafting and enterprise. I am also currently training to become an NVQ Assessor, to help others who study under the college to achieve their qualifications.
